About our trainings
Since 2017 Safeplan Uganda has been training youths on various skills, like carpentry, tailoring, liquid and bar soap making and charcoal stove production. These skills have continued to change how the youths look at skills training as well as improving their income.
Many youths still lack jobs and sustainable income. With skills training the youths will start earning before they complete the course.
Safeplan Uganda provide short tailor made courses which last for 3 months, enabling low income families to afford to give their children another chance to acquire skilled education for life.
The training program is designed to take a period of three months (78 working days) or one month (22 working days).
Out of the 35 youths identified, 10 girls and 12 boys completed all the three months training.
The training covers introduction to carpentry tools, measuring, using the tools, cutting and safety measures with bias in product development leading to completion of sellable product by the end of the three months course.
The trainees in carpentry spend the whole day because they make small contribution as cost sharing fee to meet the training requirements, administration and also facilitating the instructors.

The tailoring training course covers introduction to parts of tailoring machines, design in garment industry and craft work.
The young girls are trained how to be creative by making art products as they learn complicated designs.
We provide skills training for liquid and bar soap training,
which normally takes a minimum of 3-5 days preferred for groups.
The training also includes simple business and marketing skills incorporated
in the training package.
Trainees learn materials selections, measurement, safety precautions, branding and marketing.
We provide training to community who are interested in bee keeping
or are already practicing bee keeping enterprises.
We provide customised training sessions which last for a minimum of 3-5 days, covering bee species, site identification, honey harvesting, branding and marketing.
Requirements
Our training programs enrols mainly youths within the community; however, we also conduct training in other parts of the country on case-by-case basis, this arrangement may include providing training to small groups or providing business skills support online.
